" But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all." Isaiah 53:5,6
The World Changed by Fay Higbee
In 33 A.D., the world dramatically changed, but many didn't see it. For them, the world continued on as it always had, and they had no idea that anything was different. But in reality, something was totally new...Jesus was sacrificed for the sins of mankind.
When Jesus Christ died on the cross, there was a rent in the heavy curtain that covered the Holy of Holies in the temple (Luke 43:45)- showing the new relationship of God to His people... One on one, face to Face.
The earth quaked and the dead walked (Matthew 27:52)- showing the life-giving, healing power of God. The breaking free of the bondages of death.
Frightening signs, the darkness, the earthquake, the temple veil... all accompanied His death to the point that the Roman Centurion who stood near Him spoke of it by saying that Jesus was "Truly this was the Son of God!" (Matthew 27:54)- revealing that God now had opened the eyes of even the Gentiles.
Yet the vast majority went about their business, oblivious to what had just transpired. Within a short period of time, the Jewish temple was destroyed. It was no longer needed- the ultimate Sacrifice had been made once and for all.
The Lord, the Son of God, the Spotless Lamb is often rejected by men. Don't become complacent by thinking things will always go on as they have before. Be aware of what is happening in the world.
One man "turned aside to see" the burning bush- his name was Moses. Few people saw the coming of Jesus at His Birth. Few cared that He died - the vast majority consented to it by asking Pilate to free a criminal- Barabbas.
Be seeking God, watching, and get ready for His coming. Live each day as if it were your last - don't let your lamp go out, keep it filled. (Matthew 25:1)
The world is about to change yet again- be prepared!
