Americans hold a unique privilege in their hands...they have the right to vote for those who will exercise power over them. They have a right and an obligation to study the candidates--their views and their past performance as well as their 'promises'--and to weigh them carefully before casting their votes.
This is a right and privilege for which our forefathers fought, upon which they staked their "lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor." This generation, and all generations of AMERICANS, owe it to those who sacrificed so much to uphold the freedoms they cherished and bequeathed to us.
But we must also be mindful of the fact that our founding fathers were
godly men of profound faith. They may have run the course of
'denominations,' but every one of them was a professing CHRISTIAN!
Every one was a believer in CHRIST.
And great financial support was extended to them at the time by one of the few JEWISH citizens living in the colonies.
The Judeo-Christian partnership extends into the pre-history of AMERICA, but there was no other religious entity present at the time.
If we, as a people, are to survive the onslaught against us at our juncture in history, we must become a people of faith in CHRIST again. We must allow the fire of revival to burn within us and to raise us up to spiritual heights we have long fallen from.
LORD JESUS, we come before YOU, the AUTHOR and FINISHER of our faith, asking that YOU SEND A THIRD GREAT AWAKENING TO THIS LAND THAT OUR FOREFATHERS PLACED AT YOUR FEET.
YOUR ancient foe has done everything in his power to wrest it from YOU--he has corrupted our morals, he has destroyed our economic prowess, he has corrupted our politicians, he has dumbed-down our people.
The evil one has diminished our knowledge of our own history and brought us to the point of reaping the admonition: "They who do not learn from the mistakes of history are doomed to repeat them."
Our GREAT GOD AND SAVIOR, we ask YOU to restore us to that unswerving faith in YOU that brought us to unparalleled greatness...we ask YOU to revive us again that we might "know the TRUTH," and that YOU WHO ARE TRUTH might "set us free."
