Victoria Woodhull

The FIRST WOMAN to run for President of the United States was NOT Hillary Clinton. She was VICTORIA WOODHULL, and she ran as the candidate for the "Equal Rights" party in 1872.

Based upon the information on this historical marker in Ohio, it appears she actually stood for something besides herself.

Hillary's moment is not so historic. She really isn't the first woman ever nominated by a political party to be president!
