Men Prefer Darkness

"LIGHT is come into the world, but men prefer the darkness because their deeds are evil."

Are we people of the day or people of the night? Do we prefer light or darkness?

Are the deeds we do more suitable to be done in the light or under the cover of the night?

Nobody thinks he is worthy of condemnation. Everyone looks around to find someone with whom he may compare himself in order to convince his inner man that he is good, that he is acceptable in the eyes of the GOD of the Earth.

History reveals the Hitlers, the Stalins, the ruthless dictators of the past, and the daily news reveals the war-mongers and terrorists of the present who make each of us look like choir boys, but if we compare ourselves to the worst of these and take comfort in our relative innocence, we have missed the point of the life of JESUS.

HE came to seek and save the lost--and we are among them. We must grasp the reality that "all have sinned and come short of the glory of GOD." We must accept the truth that "there is none righteous, no not one."

We must believe that in spite of our good works and our relative goodness when compared to the vilest of sinners, we are indeed in need of the SAVIOR, for until we do, we will overlook our own need and it will not be met. If it is not met, we will perish in our sin.

May each of us pull the veil of deception away from our eyes so we may behold and receive the "unspeakable GIFT" JESUS holds out to us, and in receiving it, may we "walk in the LIGHT as HE is in the LIGHT."
