The Eastern Orthodox Church has scuttled its up-coming joint counsel, which has been in the planning for 55 years. Why?
The reason a number of churches, including those of Russia and
Constantinople, have decided to withdraw is because their Ecumenical
Patriarch of Constantinople, Bartholomew I, is considered to be too
closely aligned with the policies of the current Roman Pope.
A
number of the churches have taken issue with Bartholomew’s leftward
drift toward Pope Francis's style social justice and environmentalism as
well as his seeming support of Islam over Christianity.
