FREEDOM ISN'T FREE

FREEDOM ISN'T FREE

The Gospel is Dangerous - it liberates the captors, delivers the persecutors, and restores hope to the oppressors. Recently, I had the chance to hang out with evangelist Denny Nissley - and he said something that has stuck with me for 2 months now- "when was the last time you bled for the gospel?" Praying for this brother who thought the souls who are lost and going to hell in North Korea were worth the risk of taking the Gospel to those who may not have a chance to hear.

From the Article: "Lim's relatives and colleagues have said he traveled on Jan. 31 on a regular humanitarian mission to North Korea where he supports a nursing home, a nursery and an orphanage. They said Lim, who is in his early 60s, has made more than 100 trips to North Korea since 1997 and that his trips were about helping people and were not political. North Korea has very strict rules against any missionary or religious activities that it sees as threatening the supremacy of its ruling regime. Merely leaving a Bible in a public place can lead to arrest and severe punishment."

What have I done for the sake of the gospel of Christ? What effort have I put forth for His Kingdom's purposes? What sacrifice have I made? What risk have I taken? What loss have I endured?

This dear pastor has spent himself to help the people of Korea and he has found that his good intentions have been misinterpreted to his own disadvantage. He will perhaps spend the rest of his life doing hard labor in the North Korean penal system because he reached out to the hurting people of that nation.

Perhaps his government will intervene in his behalf. Perhaps his freedom can ultimately be restored. Perhaps our prayers for him will prevail.

Perhaps.

But whatever the future holds for him, we can trust he is saying with the Apostle Paul, who also endured much hardship for the Kingdom of Christ, "For me to live is Christ and to die is gain."

Will we--you, me, professors of faith in the LORD JESUS--can we do that when the days of persecution come?
