The Day After Christmas

Christmas is over. The wrapping paper has been discarded and the gifts have been put away. The left-over food has been stored in the 'fridge and too many delicious cookies have been enjoyed.

If that's all there is, no wonder so many people feel let down at the holiday season. If that's all there is, there's nothing but a huge void remaining of the anticipated fun of the celebration.

But--ah--BUT! But if it is indeed more than a mere festive conclusion to a year, if there really is a Savior who came and if HE indeed makes a difference for good in the lives that receive Him, then the event we celebrated yesterday will impact all our tomorrows!

Who is JESUS to you? Is He merely a helpless Baby in a manger in long-ago Bethlehem? If that's all He is, you're expectation of His involvement in your life will be minimal.

But if HE is the SAVIOR; if HE is the REDEEMER who came to die for your sins, then HE WILL GLORIOUSLY TRANSFORM YOU FROM SINNER TO SAINT! HE WILL BUY YOU BACK FROM THE DESTRUCTION OF YOUR DISAPPOINTMENT AND FAILURE.

If you allow HIM to be all HE came to be--for you--HE WILL BE YOUR SAVIOR AND YOUR LORD. HE WILL GUIDE AND GUARD YOUR LIFE AND HE WILL ASSURE YOU A PLACE WITH HIM ETERNALLY IN HEAVEN.

And He won't leave you here to helplessly await the day HE takes you home! No! HIS WORD TELLS YOU THAT "THE SAME POWER THAT RAISED JESUS FROM THE DEAD DWELLS IN YOU." ROMANS 8:11.

That means you have a powerful role to play in the furtherance of His Kingdom! If JESUS is the MESSIAH, the LORD to you, then loving and serving HIM AND HIS KINGDOM'S PURPOSES becomes the focal point of your life.

With your purposes set upon Him, you are an instrument in His hand for good.

So, what is Christmas to you? A one day celebration that's over for another year? Or is it a life transformed by the incarnate Christ who lives in your heart?
