Merciful Jesus, we who love this land--not because of mere patriotism but because we recognize that Your hand has been upon this land, You have lavished this land with blessings and You have used this land as You have used no other--cry out to You in her behalf. We ask You to "shed Your grace" upon our nation again.
We have sinned before You. We have been the producers of smut and all manner of godless so-called 'entertainment.' We have made a mockery of Your own holy name. We have been less than the lighthouse on a hill that our founders sought to become before You.
But we see the folly of our ways. We recognize the abysmal pit we have dug for ourselves and we know that none but You are capable of extracating us from it. We ask You to extend Your hand of mercy and grace to us once again. We ask You to bathe us afresh in Your shed blood.
"Though our sins be scarlet, wash us white as snow" Isaiah 1:18. Even as You declared the sins of Your ancient people to be washed clean, allow us to be immersed in the fuller of the blood of Jesus and cleansed of sin and restored to Your salvation.
Our nation will perish apart from Your mercy and we cry to You for yet another season of grace where Your Holy Spirit will move among us and draw us to Jesus, the One who can make all things new. In His holy name I ask. Amen.
