Take Hold of Christ

July 26

Who best understands the value of wealth, the one who inherits riches or the one who works hard for them? Who more fully values health, the one who has never been sick a day in his life or the one who has overcome a severe illness?

Who wants most to see the world, the one who has traveled extensively or the one who has enjoyed the amazing sites of the far-flung corners of the earth only by reading or watching television?

The answers to those questions will usually be that the one who needs to work hard, to overcome sickness, to venture beyond his immediate environment, will most value the chance to experience what they’ve lacked.

In the spiritual realm, it is the one who has recognized his sin who will, “…make every effort to take hold of Christ because he has been taken hold of by Him.” Philippians 3:12 states clearly that we embrace Him because He first held us.
