I Am a Christian

"In the world, you shall have persecution, but be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world." John 16:33

"If the world persecuted Me, don't be surprised when you, too, are persecuted." John 15:19

The evil one has unleashed unprecedented fury against the people of Christ, who are being brutalized for their faith. In some parts of the world, unspeakable atrocities are being perpetrated against Christians. In America, "the land of the FREE and the home of the BRAVE," persecution is more subtle, and in large part it remains undefined.

Instead of being identified as an attack against believers in Jesus, the violence against them is attributed to racial bigotry, as when a white man slays black worshipers while they pray in church. It is also blamed on gun ownership (which is a second amendment right) when a black man guns down white Christians.

The words of Christ are coming to pass in our lifetime. In a nation established by Christians, specifically so Christians could worship freely after their own conscience, believers in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ are being not only gunned down by emissaries of the evil one, but they are also being disparaged by people in high places.

With all these events unfolding, perhaps we should take to heart something else that was spoken by our Savior, "Take heed, for at an hour when you think not, the Son of Man shall come." Matthew 24:44
