Shelter from the Storm

As Hurricane Joachim swirls off the eastern coast of the United States, many who live along the Atlantic shore are taking precautions against the possibility that it may make landfall. They are boarding up their homes, they are securing storm walls, they are evacuating. If the storm hits, in spite of their best efforts, however, devastation will follow.

There is little man can do to avert the destructive havoc the forces of nature have the power to release, and in the spiritual realm, there is little man can do to shield himself from the onslaught of the relentless enemy who assails him at every opportunity.

The evil one is intent upon the destruction of men because he knows Jesus loves them and died to save them. The assault of the enemy of God against those the Lord came to save has gone on throughout man's occupancy of planet earth and it will continue until Christ comes back.

Although man is virtually helpless to shield himself from the assault of the enemy of his soul, he does have One to whom he may turn for protection from the winds and the waves of the storms old slewfoot generates.

Man has the assurance that his Savior will hide him in the cleft of the Rock (Exodus 33:22); that man may find a place of safety in the shadow of His wing (Psalm 63:7).

If you are caught within a force that is overpowering you, that is leaving you helpless and overwhelmed, allow yourself to turn to the Savior who has made provision for you to overcome the onslaught of the enemy within the security of the salvation Jesus has purchased for you at great price.
