John Lennon

John Lennon lived the good life. John Lennon had the opportunity to use his God-given gifts to attain the pinnacle of success in his chosen field.

For those too young to remember, John Lennon was a member of the singing group, The Beatles, an English band that invaded America in the 1960s and transformed the way the nation and the world listened to music.

John Lennon and one of his band mates, Paul McCarthy, not only performed the music of a generation but they wrote much of it. Their talent is undeniable and their mastery of their craft set a standard that few other musical performers have been able to achieve.

The Beatles were known not just for their amazing music; they were also known for their interest in eastern religion. Lennon said once, "We're more popular than Jesus." His prideful boast struck a chord in many of the young people of the day who abandoned their Christian faith as did their heroes.

Lennon's betrayal of his faith was coupled with his betrayal of his wife. The many 'groupies,' young ladies who made themselves available to rock stars, followed the band wherever they went.

Lennon's affair with and marriage to Yoko Ono made the headlines of the day. They posed notoriously for an album cover that was considered scandalous at the time. Yet, in spite of their flaunting of societal mores and God's immutable law, they were looked upon as music royalty.

Then, the unthinkable happened. John Lennon was gunned down outside his home by a deranged fan. The fairy-tale life he had lived came abruptly to an end.

The millions of dollars he had accrued, the adulation of the masses that attended him, the eastern religion he had espoused could not avail him one additional moment of life. He lay dead on the pavement outside the luxury hotel where he lived.

At that moment, the rich, acclaimed, unconventional John Lennon met his eternal destiny. He met the Christ he had mocked. These 35 years later, he is where his life choices compel him to be.

What are your life choices?
Where will you spend eternity?
