Silent Night
Jesus Christ was born to a humble but devout family whose lineage sprang from King David. His mother was such a godly woman that she was spoken to by an angel regarding the child that she should bring forth into the world. Her betrothed husband Joseph also had favor in the sight of the Holy One.
According to the law of the day, a betrothal was deemed a true marriage, although the couple had not yet assumed their life together. Under this arrangement, Mary would still have lived with her parents, so when the angel told her she would bear a son, her response was, "How can this be? I know not a man."
The angel made it very clear that the child that she would deliver
would have no earthly father, He would be the Son of God. This in no
way suggests intimacy with the Almighty as some misconstrue the term,
Son of God. (See Luke, Chapter 2.)
The Bible is very clear, JESUS, the Second Person of the Trinity is one with the Creator God and the Holy Spirit of God. The Triune God, who created all that is, has existed in concert with Himself from forever. He is without beginning; He is without end.
We get a glimpse of His eternal past and His plan to redeem mankind in the Book of Revelation, Chapter 13, verse 8 where JESUS is addressed as "the LAMB slain from the foundation of the earth." Before He was born, before man was created, before He spoke and the world came into being, our LORD and SAVIOR planned to sacrifice Himself for us.
So HE entered the womb of a virgin whose betrothed husband was assured by the angel that he could take this faithful and honorable woman to be his wife.
"And when the time was accomplished that she should be delivered," Luke 2:6, she brought forth her Son in a stable and laid Him in a manger because there was no room for them in the inn.
It was on a silent night in Bethlehem, just as it had been foretold by the prophet, Micah 5:2.
On that silent night, God quietly entered the world HE created. He came as a baby who would grow up to die for the sins of all mankind.
That Holy Child, that glorious, risen Savior, desires to abide in your heart.
Do you have room there for Him?
