Why?

"Be anxious for nothing; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done." Philippians 4:6

To some of us, prayer is an act of desperation. After we have done everything we can think of to do to resolve our problems--without success-- we fall on our knees in earnest supplication to the One who has been there for us all along.

Well, if God cares so much about us, why do we have problems in the first place?

Why isn't life fair?
Why aren't finances equitable?
Why aren't opportunities available to all?
Why aren't all cultures equally advantageous to those who live in them?
Why aren't there more evidences of the power of love at work?

The simple answer is--because we live in a fallen world.

If there had been no consequence to the sin of Adam and Eve, man would have gone on in the paradise God originally created for him, but God is a God of justice and He cannot overlook the sin of rebellion that was committed by His beloved creation.

He could not overlook it, but HE could and HE did pay the price for it. Instead of demanding the death penalty because of man's transgression against His holiness, God paid sin's price through the death of Jesus Christ.

Jesus hung on a cruel Roman cross until He died because He did not want YOU to die!

As the Word says, "No greater love has any man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13

This is precisely what Jesus did for you. He laid down His life for you so you need never die.
Believers in Christ don't need to be anxious about the threat of evil that looms before us. We needn't be anxious about the threat of peril. We don't have to be anxious about the threat of death or loss, for, as the Apostle Paul said, "For me to live is Christ and to die is gain." Philippians 1:21

However things go, we may be assured that our lives are "hidden in Christ." Colossians 3:3
However things go, we may be certain that He has heard the cries of our heart.

However things go, we need never fear.
